ABOUT
EVSS (Email Virus & Spam Stopper) is an application for use with IPSwitch's
iMail Mail Server. What EVSS will do is hook the iMail SMTP Server service
and intercept each and every email, un-mime encode each message to a directory
where EVSS can then run spam filtering rules and scan the message for viruses
by any commercial command line anti-virus program that returns an error-level responce
when finding a virus. (Tested using McAfee VirusScan Included with this
distribution. You are responsible for registering it.)

The "Virus" Problem and Solution
The most deadly viruses, able to cripple your email system and corporate network in minutes,

The "Spam" Problem and Solutions

emails are sent. EVSS is providing the latest and best tools, which help prevent annoying junk
email from ever reaching customer computers. You can filter them off your system using 6
different user configurable files.
1) OK To's :
When checked, EVSS will scan a file ( OK_TO.TXT ) for this messages "TO" address if found it
ignores all other Anti-Spam Filtering rules. Enter one email address per line.
2) OK From's :
When checked, EVSS will scan a file ( OK_FROM.TXT ) for this messages "FROM" address if found it ignores all other Anti-Spam Filtering rules. Enter one email address per line
3) BAD IPs :
When checked, EVSS will scan a file ( BAD_IP.TXT ) for this messages originating server if found it stops processing rules and follows the "what do you want to do with message" rule. Enter one IP (partial or whole) or domain (parital or whole) per line
ie: 10.1.1.(stops everything from 10.1.1.0 thru 10.1.1.255)
domain.com (stops everything from domain.com, including mail.domain.com, smtp.domain.com. domain.com,...)
4) BAD From's :
When checked, EVSS will scan a file ( BAD_FROM.TXT ) for this messages "FROM" address if found it stops processing rules and follows the "what do you want to do with message" rule. Enter one email address per line.
5) BAD Subject's :
When checked, EVSS will load the contents of the file ( BAD_SUB.TXT ) and scan the subject of the message for any matching words or phrases. Enter one word or phrase per line.
6) BAD Key Words :
When checked, EVSS will load the contents of the file (BAD_KEYW.TXT) and scan the body of the message for any matching words or phrases. Enter one word or phrase per line.
Spam happens. Virus attacks happen.
